BPD: 4 arrested for robbery, theft

In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 21, Brewton Police Department was made aware of a possible robbery that had occurred inside the city limits of Brewton.

The victims stated they were robbed at gun point with the offenders fleeing in a vehicle after the robbery. The victims gave a detailed description of the vehicle along with a tag number that was driven by the suspects.

A short time later, Brewton police officers observed a vehicle matching the description backed into a parking spot at Whataburger. As officers approached, the vehicle left the parking lot at a high rate of speed heading North on US-31.

Officers pursued the vehicle into Conecuh County where the chase was called off due to high rates of speed.

Conecuh County Sheriff’s Office along with Evergreen Police intercepted the fleeing vehicle and the chase came to an end North of Evergreen.

Inside the vehicle were four individuals involved in the suspected crime. All four individuals were transported back to the Brewton Police Department.

The following individuals are charged in relation to the crime(s) committed: Wyatt Askew- Robbery 1st Degree and Theft of Property 2nd Degree. Victor West Jr- Robbery 1st Degree, Theft of Property 2nd Degree, Attempting to Elude a Police Officer and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Julius Armstrong- Robbery 1st Degree and Theft of Property 2nd Degree.

The fourth suspect involved in the incident is a juvenile and their identity will not be released at this time.

The case is ongoing and still under investigation.
