Flomaton woman killed in morning crash

A Flomaton woman has died following a two-vehicle crash just before 8 a.m. Wednesday along a section of U.S. 29 near Century, Fla.

Sara R. Daw, 50, of Flomaton, was pronounced dead at a Jay, Fla., hospital after being transported by ambulance for treatment following the crash.

Brewton resident, James A. Richburg, 50, was the driver of the second vehicle involved in the incident. Richburg received minor injuries in the mishap.

According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, Richburg was driving a 2008 GMC pickup truck when he struck the 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Daw. A report of the incident indicated Daw and Richburg were both traveling south on U.S. 29 on the inside lane of the roadway with Richburg following Daw’s vehicle. As Daw stopped for a northbound school bus, Richburg failed to stop before striking the rear of Daw’s vehicle. Richburg’s vehicle traveled a south for a short distance before veering to the right and coming to a final rest in the outside lane of the roadway. Daw’s vehicle rolled south in the inside lane and came to rest after a short distance.

A traffic homicide investigation is under way in the case with possible charges in the case pending the investigation results.
