Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team ended their season Friday and Saturday by taking two of three games from Wallace State Selma.
Friday, JDCC won 16-0 and 12-10 in the first game Saturday. In the final game of the series, JDCC lost 12-6.
“Friday, Michael King pitched seven complete innings for the win for us,” JDCC head coach Darrell Blevins said. “Saturday, Blake Long led the way with two home runs and in game two, we just flat ran out of pitching.”
Unfortunately, Blevins said, JDCC will not make the State Tournament this year.
“The losses to Enterprise last Tuesday did us in,” Blevins said. “We are disappointed in not being able to go. Just could not overcome three huge injuries to our number two, three, and four starting pitchers throughout the season as well as not having our starting catcher for five weeks during the main stretch. The guys really hung in there for a long time. We will now close things out for this year and begin preparations for next years squad to come in during August.”
