Brewton Rangers beat EB Yankees

Friday night in East Brewton and Brewton Little League interleague action, the two leagues split.

The Brewton Rangers took down the East Brewton Yankees 15-4 while the East Brewton Cardinals added a win to their record with a 6-5 win over the Brewton Brewers.

Brewton Rangers 15,

EB Yankees 4

Yankees pitchers walked 22 Rangers while allowing only one hit as the Rangers took an 11-run win.

Drew Williamson took the win on the mound for the Rangers as he allowed four runs on six hits, walked one, struck out seven.

Lane Clark was 1-for-3 at the plate for the Rangers and Williamson was 1-for-2 with a triple.

For the Yankees, Dakota Graves was 3-for-3 with a triple and Dalton Shell, Colton Booker, and Treavor Williams were all 1-for-3.

Graves, Bryce Booker, Williams and Quinn Riley pitched for the Yankees in the loss allowing 15 runs on two hits, walked 22 and struck out 11.

East Brewton Cardinals 6, Brewton Brewers 5

TyShawn Davis was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple for the Cardinals and earned the win on the mound as the Cardinals took down the Brewers 6-5.

Davis allowed five runs on three hits, walked one and struck out four in the win.

Derrick Barton joined Davis with a 2-for-3 night at the plate of his own with a double and a triple as well.

Logan Morrill was 1-for-2 at the plate for the Cardinals in the win.

For the Brewers, Joshua Winton took the loss as he allowed six runs on five hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Ethan Tyree was 1-for-2 with a double and Jared Cooper was 1-for-2 with a homerun. Tyler Hoomes was 1-for-2 with a double at the plate in the loss.

The Brewers made three errors in the loss while the Cardinals made two.

Chamber to have golf tournament

The Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce will have their 5th Annual Chamber Classic golf tournament, Thursday, May 6.

The four-person scramble will be held at the Country Club of Brewton with lunch and registration at 11:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Church to have softball tournament

The Second Saint John Missionary Baptist Church will hold a softball tournament to help raise money for their building fund.

The tournament will be Saturday, May 22, at 9 a.m. at the Brewton Sportsman Club Park on Kirkland Road in Brewton.

The tournament is classified as class D and C and will have first, second, and third place winners. Price is $50 for pre-registration non-refundable fees and total registration is $125. Deadline to register is Monday, May 10.
