T.R. Miller softball loses first game of tourney

Friday’s first round game of the South regional softball tournament in Gulf Shores was not how the Lady Tigers of T. R. Miller wanted to start as they lost to Slocomb 13-1.
The Lady Tigers were held to only one hit and three baserunners in the five inning game while committing four errors-three in the first inning on the first two batters.
Slocomb built a 4-0 lead in the first inning with no outs to lead after the top of the first inning.
T. R. Miller would score one run in the bottom of tge first to cut the lead to three after the first inning.
That would be the only run of the game for T. R. Miller while Slocomb scored two in the second, three in the third, and four in the fifth to get the mercy rule win.
Taylor Guthrie took the loss on the mound going five innings and allowing nine earned runs on eight hits, walked seven and hit four.
Sarah Lee had the lone hit in the game in the second inning going 1-for-2. Natalie Neal had the lone RBI scoring Leah Brundidge on a sacrifice fly. Brundidge led the game off with an error.
With the loss, the Lady Tigers fell to 23-4 and will play the loser of Headland and Luverne at 5 p.m. Friday.
With a loss, the season will be over, with a win, they will play at 9 a.m. Saturday.
