East Brewton Police are continuing an investigation into a Wednesday fight that has left one man in critical condition in a Mobile hospital.
Arthur Ray Benjamin is said to be in critical condition at U.S.A. Medical Center in Mobile following the incident, according to East Brewton Police Chief Kenny Brazile.
“We received a call Wednesday night at about 10 p.m.,” Brazile said. “We were called to a Pitts Street address in the Springhill community regarding the incident,” Brazile said. “We were told there was a man down that needed medical attention and we responded.”
Brazil said paramedics treated Benjamin at the scene and transported him to D.W. McMillan Hospital.
“He was taken to the hospital here and was later transferred to USA Medical Center in Mobile,” Brazile said. “His condition has prevented me from getting a statement from him about the incident.”
Brazile said initial investigations indicate that Benjamin was involved in an altercation that began between family members, however, the person responsible for Benjamin’s injuries has not been determined.
“We are continuing to investigate this case,” Brazile said. “We are questioning those at the scene and others in the community. We will continue to investigate until the situation is resolved.”
Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact the East Brewton Police Department at 867-4864.
