Beasley pleads guilty
Corrie Beasley, 72, of Brewton, pleaded guilty Monday to willful torture of a child.
Beasley had originally been charged in 2008 with first degree child sexual abuse. He was sentenced Monday to the maximum penalty, 10 years, but the sentence was suspended, prosecuting attorney Kylie Jernigan said.
Beasley will instead serve five years of supervised probation on the Class C felony charge.
When Beasley was originally charged, officials declined to discuss the details of the case or elaborate on his relationship to the child involved.
