Organist, Sharon White and Pianist, Marcia De Graaf will present Celebration of Faith and Freedom at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 27 at the First United Methodist Church, located at 820 Belleville Ave. in Brewton. The organ and piano benefit concert is free and open to the community. Donations will be accepted and will benefit the uninsured patients and special programs of Covenant Hospice in South Central Alabama.
The concert will include musical selections to encourage attendees in their faith, and will also include a salute to various branches of the armed forces. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. White and De Graaf have presented several sacred organ and piano concerts in the Florida Panhandle, South Alabama and Michigan.
“Sharon White is a volunteer for Covenant Hospice who is currently the organist at Concord Presbyterian Church in Gulf Breeze,” De Graaf said. “She lives in Pensacola. I live in Brewton and volunteer for and also serve on the Board of Directors of Covenant Hospice. We have been presenting concerts for 20 years and have given concerts in the Florida Panhandle, lower Alabama, and Michigan. This is the second benefit concert we have done for Covenant Hospice; the first was October 2009 in Gulf Breeze.”
“We want to lead everyone in celebrating our freedom and our faith through the medium of music. The concert will include patriotic music and well as classical music, hymns, and gospel music. It is open to the public. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.”
