A Brewton woman remains behind bars after being arrested on drug distribution charges Wednesday.

Gail Denson, 44, of 214 Pine St., was arrested after agents with the Brewton Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at the residence. Members of the Brewton Police Department’s Special Response Team assisted in the search warrant execution.

Cpl. Andrew Casey of the division said the arrest came after an investigation of illegal activity of Denson.

“Denson has been under investigation by the Brewton Narcotics Division for the illegal distribution of narcotics,” Casey said. “Agents had also received complaints that Denson was selling drugs.”

Denson was at the residence when officers arrived around 8:30 p.m. June 16, Casey said.

Following a search of the home, officers located several items of paraphernalia as well as marijuana, Lortab and powder cocaine, Casey said.

Denson was arrested and was charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where she remained in custody in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Anyone with information concerning illegal drug activity should contact the Brewton Police Department’s Narcotics Division at 867-3212.
