Police: Teens charged in drug case

A plastic bag thrown from a vehicle during a traffic stop was a clue for Brewton police that the stop might end in arrests for the four teenagers in the car.
When Officer Patrick Caylor stopped a Mercury Grand Marquis on Sowell Road and Liles Boulevard Saturday, someone threw the bag from the vehicle near Liles Boulevard.
Officers recovered the bag and found it contained several small plastic bags of marijuana, packaged for distribution, said Cpl. Andrew Casey of the Brewton Narcotics Division.
The driver of the vehicle, Alex David Thomas, 18, of Atmore, and passengers Randy Lee Johnson, 18, of Atmore, Nataki Drakeford, 18, of Brewton, and Eric Frye, 19, of Atmore, were all arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, police said.
Thomas was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.bags of marijuana that was packaged for distribution. All of the occupants in the vehicle were arrested for Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree. The driver of the vehicle, Alex David Thomas, was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
