TRM and WSN volleyball teams play in Flomaton summer tourney

In a summer volleyball team camp Tuesday and Wednesday in Flomaton, T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal were able to get a head start for the 2010 season.
Both teams began play Tuesday with T.R. Miller going 3-1 and the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal going 0-4 including a loss to T.R. Miller.
Wednesday, W.S. Neal opened with a 2-0 win over Pleasant Home winning by scores of 25-23 and 25-20.
The Lady Eagles followed with a win over Jay and lost to Cottage Hill later in the day to go 2-1 on Wednesday and 2-5 overall.
T.R. Miller opened play Wednesday with a 2-1 win over host Flomaton.
The Lady Tigers improved to 2-0 on the day with a 2-1 win over Straughn.
T.R. Miller won game one 25-18 before falling in game two 25-19.
In the third game tie-breaker set, T.R. Miller held a 4-2 lead before a Straughn player got hurt. Since the team had no more substitutions, the game had to be forfeited giving T.R. Miller the win.
The Lady Tigers ended play in the tournament later in the day with a win against 6A Foley.
T.R. Miller finished the tournament Wednesday with a 3-0 record and went 3-1 Tuesday beating Jay, W.S. Neal, and Pleasant Home before losing to Baldwin County.
Game one:
W.S. Neal 25,
Pleasant Home 23
Against Pleasant Home Wednesday, W.S. Neal trailed 14-10 only to rebound and take a 19-15 lead en route to a 25-23 win over Pleasant Home.
W.S. Neal built a 22-18 lead only to see Pleasant Home cut the lead to 23-22 and tie the game at 23-23.
The Lady Eagles gained control to take a 24-23 lead and Whitney Douglas got the final point for the win.
Game two:
W.S. Neal 25, Pleasant Home 20
Britta Wood led W.S. Neal with four service points and one ace to get a 25-23 win over Pleasant Home. The points would win the game 2-0.

Straughn 18
For T.R. Miller in game one against Straughn, Elizabeth Nelson gave the Lady Tigers seven straight service points to turn a 10-10 tie into a 17-10 lead and help win 25-18.
Nelson finished with five service points, two aces, and one kill.
Game two:

T.R. Miller 19
In game two, Straughn tied the match up at 1-1 with a 25-19 win over T.R. Miller to force a third game.
With the game tied at 9-9, Straughn scored nine straight points to take an 18-9 lead.
T.R. Miller cut the lead to 18-15 but Straughn took the win by six.
Game three:
T.R. Miller wins
by forfeit 4-2
In the deciding game three, the game was tied at 2-2 before T.R. Miller took a 4-2 lead.
On the fourth point, Straughn had a player leave the game due to injury and with no more subs to enter, had to forfeit the game.
Both teams can start official practice for the 2010 season Monday as set by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
Also, both teams will start their 2010 season Thursday, Aug. 19.
T.R. Miller will take on Baldwin County and Robertsdale on the road in Bay Minette in a tri-match while W.S. Neal will travel to Thomasville.
