Red Cross setting appointments for Project SHARE

American Red Cross will begin administrating Project SHARE funds on August 9.

The East Escambia Chapter of the American Red Cross will begin setting up interview appointments for Project SHARE (Service to help Alabamians with Relief on Energy), the energy assistance program for the elderly and disabled, on Monday, August 9, and Tuesday, August 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Brewton, East Brewton and Flomaton residents can set up appointments by calling the office of the Red Cross at 867-3426 and interviews will begin on August 11.

There are some stipulations to be considered before the residents can get the help.

To qualify for assistance, the family must be within certain guidelines depending on the size of the household. In addition, the head of the family must be 62 years of age or older, and is currently on disability (SSI of SSD), Each person applying must have a current statement from their physician stating that the medical needs for continuance of electricity and what medical problems will occur if there is an interruption of service.

Project SHARE will be administered by the Red Cross. A member of the Red Cross will be doing the interviews seeking financial assistance to pay the power bill.
