For the first time since 1988 the Escambia County Republican Party will have a place to call home.

A headquarters office has been set up at 339 Douglas Ave., in the former Liberty National building.

Escambia County GOP Chairman Jeff Peacock announced a grand opening celebration for the offices to be held Thursday from noon to 3 p.m.

“We are excited to announce this grand opening and open house for our headquarters,” Peacock said. “This is our first headquarters in the county since 1988.”

As part of the open house and grand opening, Peacock said several Republican candidates will be on hand for the event.

“Congressman Jo Bonner will be our very special guest for this event,” Peacock said. “We will have several Republican candidates and elected officials to join us for the event.”

Bonner is expected to arrive at the Douglas Avenue location at 2 p.m., Peacock said.

Peacock said county residents interested in learning more about the Republican Party are invited to visit the new headquarters offices.

“This is a great opportunity to learn how to get involved in the local Republican Party,” Peacock said. “It’s an opportunity to be a part of improving our nation, our state and our country.”

The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served at the event hosted by the Escambia County Republican Party.
