Warhawk basketball falls to Marion, 81-71

In their final home game and final game for the month of December Monday night at home, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team lost to Marion Military 81-71.
The loss for JDCC dropped the Warhawks to 3-6 overall this season.
JDCC was outscored 36-31 in the first half of play Monday night and was outscored by five again in the second half, 45-40, to lose by 10 points.
JDCC shot 36.5 percent from the field in the loss and 30.4 (7-for-23) from the 3-point area. JDCC was 10-for-15 from the free throw line for 66.7 percent.
Leading the Warhawks in the loss Monday was Kahlee Tyler who had 21 points. Tyler was followed by Braylon Lazare with 18 points and Brandon Scott with 10 points. Daryl Duncan added seven points and Sherman Presswood and Turmonte Ragland both chipped in four points each.
Travis Allen had three points and Larel Jackson and Adam Stumpf rounded out the JDCC scorers with two points each.
Lazare led with five offensive rebounds and Duncan had five defensive as Lazare led with nine total.
Tyler led the Warhawks with six assists and Stumpf led with one block. Lazare followed with four steals to lead JDCC in the loss.
The Warhawks will be off for Christmas break but will return to action, Friday, Jan. 7, at home against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at 6 p.m. in Brewton.
