Escambia County tournament to begin Friday at TRM

The 2010 version of the Escambia County Tournament will tip off Friday, Dec. 17, at T.R. Miller gymnasium in Brewton.
The tournament will feature all four public high school teams in Escambia County—W.S. Neal, T.R. Miller, Flomaton, and Escambia County of Atmore. Games will be played on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, with game times set to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Monday.
Last season, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers took the girls championship and the Escambia County Blue Devils took the boys championship in the tournament that was played in Flomaton. T.R. Miller’s Lady Tigers have won three straight tournament titles and seven of the last eight. Atmore won the 2006 tournament over the Lady Tigers.
Atmore’s boys have won the title the last two years on the boys side of the tournament and have won five of the last eight.
Beginning Friday, Dec. 17, the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal will start the tournament off as they begin play at 3:30 p.m. against the Lady Blue Devils of Escambia County.
At 5 p.m., W.S. Neal’s boys will play Escambia County.
Following the W.S. Neal and Escambia County boys game, T.R. Miller and Flomaton will square off against each other with the girls beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the boys playing the final game of the night at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, Escambia County and Flomaton will start things off with the girls playing the 2 p.m. game and the boys hitting the floor at 3:30 p.m.
W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller will play the night games with the girls playing at 5 p.m. followed by the boys at 6:30 p.m.
After a break from tournament play on Sunday, the tournament will resume on Monday, Dec. 20, with W.S. Neal and Flomaton’s girls playing first at 2 p.m. and the boys team squaring off at 3:30 p.m.
Escambia County and T.R. Miller will end the tournament with the girls playing at 5 p.m. and the boys playing at 6:30 p.m.
Next year the tournament is set to be played at W.S. Neal.
