Lady Tigers win, varsity falls to Atmore in tourney finale Monday

T.R. Miller’s Lady Tigers ended the tournament with a 2-1 record and second place Monday while the boys ended the tournament 1-2 and third place finish after the two teams split with Atmore Monday night.
The Lady Tigers improved to 7-3 as they defeated the Lady Blue Devils 43-24 while the Tigers dropped to 3-4 overall with a 64-33 loss to the tournament champion Blue Devils.
T.R. Miller’s teams will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Grove Hill for the Clarke County Christmas tournament.

TRM Lady Tigers 43, Atmore 24
After a tight first quarter, the Lady Tigers turned things around in the second to get a 19-point win over Atmore 43-24.
Atmore started the game with a 6-2 lead only to see T.R. Miller tie the game at 6-6 after one quarter of play.
The Lady Tigers would then go on a 10-0 run over the first and second quarter span to outscore Atmore 8-1 in the second quarter and grab a 14-7 lead heading into the half.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller outscored Atmore 17-10 to hold a 31-17 lead and followed with a 12-7 advantage in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Leah Brundidge led T.R. Miller with 14 points and Courtney Jones added eight points. Sha Kiser had seven points and Brittany Rush had six. Adrian Gibbs chipped in four points and Diamond Middleton and Taylor Guthrie had two points each in the Lady Tiger win.
T.R. Miller shot 8-for-10 from the free throw line while Atmore was 5-for-16.

Atmore 64, TRM boys 33
The Atmore Blue Devils showed the Tigers of T.R. Miller Monday night why they are the three time Escambia County tournament champion as they rolled to a 64-33 win to drop T.R. Miller to 3-4 overall.
Atmore jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and held T.R. Miller to five points in the first quarter while scoring 19 points to lead by 14.
In the second, Atmore edged out the Tigers 12-10 to hold a 31-15 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Blue Devils doubled up the home team with an 18-9 advantage to lead 49-24 heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, Atmore ended the game on a 15-9 run to get the win by 31 points.
The Tigers shot 6-for-13 from the free throw line in the loss while Atmore was 11-for-21.
Kameron Winn led T.R. Miller with 15 points and Mark Bryant added eight points in the loss.
Darrion Salter had six points and Caleb Dickey added three points. Devonte Jones chipped in one point for the Tigers in the loss to the Blue Devils of Escambia County in Atmore.
