William D. ‘Bill’ Brown Jr.

Mr. William D. ‘Bill’ Brown Jr., 80, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010. He was a native of Andalusia and lived in Florida and Alabama and spent time in Open Pond and Mobile. He resided in Brewton for the past two years. He served for more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy Seabees. After retirement in 1966, he drove trucks and was an active member of Rock Creek Assembly of God Church. He and his wife owned B & M Bail Bonds from 1988 to 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Brown Sr. and Sarah Brown; and a grandson, Jeremy Bowman.
He is survived by his wife of almost 19 years, Martha Brown of Brewton; three daughters. Mary Anne (Tom) Bergstrum and Theresa (Carlos) Freitas of Derry, N.H. and Elizabeth Anne Blanchette of West Port, Mass.; a grandson, Tyler Hall and step-grandson, Nicholas Bergstrum of Derry N.H.; five step-grandchildren Froy (Rita) Heist of Beulah, Fla.; Debi (Carl) Bowman and Robin Heist of Pace, Fla.; Tommy Heist and Clay (Dona) Heist, both of Pensacola, Fla.; nine step-grandchildren: Angel (Ronnie) Bell, Sam (Cheryl) Blocker, and Ashley Heist all of Milton, Fla.; Krystal and Lauren Heist, both of Pensacola, Fla.; Josh (Gina) Heist of McDavid, Fla.; Leslie Bowman and Kevin (Tiffany) Heist, all of Pace, Fla.; Reba Blocker of Munson, Fla.; three step-great-grandchildren: Carthon, Destinee and Brendon Bell; and many friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 12 p.m. at Rock Creek Assembly Church with Brother Bobby DuBose officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were Froy Heist, Clay Heist, Carl Bowman, Ronnie Bell, Sam Blocker and Raymond Wiggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Heist, Josh Heist, Kevin Heist and John Tillman.
