TRM girls and varsity split area game at home Friday night against Bayside Academy

In their second area game of the season at home Friday night against the Bayside Academy Admirals, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers and varsity Tigers split.
The Lady Tigers came away with a 38-30 win while the varsity Tigers lost 44-29.
With the win for the Lady Tigers, T.R. Miller improved to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in area play while the varsity Tigers fell to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in area play.
No B-team game was played.

TRM Lady Tigers 38, Bayside Academy 30
If there had been no second quarter in the girls game Friday night in Brewton, Bayside Academy would have defeated T.R. Miller 26-18.
Unfortunately for the Lady Admirals, a second quarter was played and the Lady Tigers used a 14-0 run in the quarter to outscore Bayside 20-4 in the quarter and propel them to an eight-point win, 38-30.
Other than the second quarter, T.R. Miller and Bayside were even in the first and third quarter and the Admirals outscored T.R. Miller 11-3 in the final quarter.
T.R. Miller and Bayside were tied 7-7 after the first quarter Friday night and the Lady Tigers led 13-11 with 5:28 left before the half.
From there, the Lady Tigers’ 14-0 run over the next 5:14 turned their two-point lead into a 27-11 lead as the led at the half by 16 points.
In the third quarter, both teams scored eight points each as T.R. Miller led 35-19 heading into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth, Bayside Academy used a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 37-26 with 4:42 left in the game.
T.R. Miller would end the run with a free throw with 1:46 left, but the Admirals would end the game on a 4-0 run to cut the lead to eight points with T.R. Miller hanging on for the win.
T.R. Miller shot 4-for-9 from the free throw line in the win while Bayside was 3-for-8.
T.R. Miller had four scorers in the win with three in double figures. Leah Brundidge led T.R. Miller with 12 points and Courtney Jones and Sha Kiser had 10 points each.
Adrian Gibbs chipped in six points.

Bayside Academy 44, TRM varsity 29
The T.R. Miller varsity Tigers dropped their record in 2011 to 0-2 Friday at home with a 15-point, 44-29 area loss to Bayside Academy.
While the Tigers lost by 15 points, 13 of those points were missed on free throws as the Tigers shot 9-of-22 while Bayside Academy was 7-for-13.
T.R. Miller and Bayside Academy were tied 8-8 with 1:18 left in the first quarter only to see the Admirals end the quarter on a 4-0 run and hold a 12-8 lead after the first quarter.
In the second, Bayside increased their run to 6-0 and edged out T.R. Miller 9-8 in the quarter to make their lead five points, 21-16 at the half.
In the third quarter, Bayside built a 10-point lead with 4:52 left in the quarter and outscored the Tigers 11-6 to hold a 32-22 lead after three quarters of play.
In the fourth, Bayside would go on and end the game on a 12-7 run to get the win by 15 points.
T.R. Miller had seven scorers in the game with Mark Bryant leading the way with 10 points.
Caleb Hubbard and Kameron Winn both had five points each and Antonio Payne had four points.
Jaquan Dewberry and Jerric Woods had four points each in the loss for the Tigers while Darrion Salter chipped in one point.
