WSN Eagles swept by Thomasville Tuesday at home

For the seventh time this year, all three W.S. Neal basketball teams came away with losses Tuesday night at home against area opponent Thomasville.
The W.S. Neal B-team Eagles lost to Thomasville 34-20 while the Lady Eagles lost 49-32. In the final game of the night, the varsity Eagles lost 76-25.
With the loss, the B-team dropped to 1-9 overall while the Lady Eagles lost their 14th straight game to fall to 1-14 overall and 0-3 in area play.
The varsity Eagles dropped their record to 3-15 overall with their ninth straight loss and fell to 0-3 in area play.
W.S. Neal will be back in action Friday in another area game as they travel to Jackson for a 4:30 p.m. tip.

Thomasville 34, WSN B-team 20
The W.S. Neal Eagle B-team found themselves in an early hole in the first half of play against Thomasville Tuesday that lead to a 34-20 defeat.
The Eagles trailed 6-0 early in the game and fell to a 7-0 run later in the quarter and a 9-0 run in the second quarter.
The Eagles trailed 13-5 after the first and 26-10 at the half after being outscored 13-5 in the second quarter of play.
In the third quarter, both teams combined for six points as the Eagles cut into the lead by two points as they had a 4-2 advantage in the third to trail 28-14 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, both teams would score six points each, as W.S. Neal would lose by 14 points.
The Eagles shot 3-for-6 from the free throw line in the loss while Thomasville was 2-for-12 with 10 missed free throws.
TyAnthony Alexander led W.S. Neal with seven points and Devin Stallworth had five.
Malik Williams added three points and Justin Floyd had two.
Bryson Peterson, Rob Jones, and Zack Haveard all had one point each in the loss for the Eagles.

Thomasville 49, WSN Lady Eagles 32
It is never good when you lose by 17 points, but when you look at the stats and realize your team missed 17 free throws, it does not get any better for you.
That was the case Tuesday night at home for the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles as they lost to Thomasville for their 14th straight loss.
The Lady Eagles were 8-for-25 from the free throw line while Thomasville was 8-for-18.
The Lady Eagles of East Brewton trailed 16-7 after the first quarter and found themselves down 26-9 with 1:40 left in the second after a 6-0 run by the visiting Lady Tigers.
Thomasville would outscore W.S. Neal 10-6 in the second quarter to lead 26-13 at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal would make two shots from the field and go 3-for-8 from the free throw line, but was outscored 9-7 in the quarter to trail 35-20 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, Thomasville scored the first five points of the quarter to hold a 40-20 lead with 6:09 left to play in the game.
W.S. Neal cut the lead to 40-28 with 2:55 left in the game after an 8-0 run but would be outscored 14-12 in the quarter to lose by 17.
The Lady Eagles had three scorers in the loss with Keyvonnia Kyles leading with 15 points.
Angelique Askew had 11 points in the loss and Jasmine Crook chipped in six points.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagle head coach John Saxon declined comment after the game.

Thomasville 76, WSN varsity 25
After scoring the first two points of the game Tuesday against Thomasville, it was all downhill for the Eagles as they lost to the Tigers by 51 points, 76-25.
The Eagles held a 2-0 lead with 5:49 left in the first quarter. From there, W.S. Neal would fall to a 14-0 run by Thomasville to trail 14-2 after the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, the only quarter the Eagles would score more than 10 points in, W.S. Neal posted 12 points with 10 coming from free throws.
Thomasville had 18 points in the quarter as they increased their lead by six points over the Eagle and held a 32-14, 18-point lead at the half.
The third quarter for the Eagles was eerily similar to the first as they would score the first two points to cut the lead to 32-16 with 7:19 left, but would fall to a 23-0 run to end the quarter down by 39 points, 55-16.
In the fourth, Thomasville increased their run to a 27-0 run and would add an 8-0 run later in the quarter to outscore the Eagles 21-9 to get the huge win.
W.S. Neal shot 13-for-28 from the free throw line in the loss while Thomasville was 15-for-36.
W.S. Neal had six points from the field in the loss.
The Eagles had seven scorers in the loss with Kenny Kiser leading with eight points. Jalen Harrod had six points and Hudson Brown had three points.
Dalton Evans, Donovan Millican, Josiah Nettles, and Austin Dixon all had two points each in the loss.
W.S. Neal varsity coach Derek Roberts declined comment after the game.
