TRM basketball results against Excel and WCHS

The T.R. Miller Tiger basketball teams had a busy start to their weekend this past Friday and Saturday.
The Tiger teams played area games at Excel Friday night and Washington County on Saturday. T.R. Miller’s B-team with 1-1 with a split as they defeated Excel but lost to Washington County. The Lady Tigers went 2-0 while the varsity Tigers went 0-2.
The B-team defeated Excel 34-31 while losing to Washington County 45-38 to see their record go to 4-6 overall.
The Lady Tigers defeated Excel 42-14 and Washington County 55-13 to improve their overall record to 15-4 overall and to 6-0 in area play.
T.R. Miller’s varsity Tigers lost to Excel 65-64 in overtime and 73-39 to Washington County to see their record fall to 5-11 overall and to 1-5 in area play.
T.R. Miller will play at Bayside Academy Tuesday on the road at 4:30 p.m. and at Clarke County Saturday in a makeup game.

TRM B-team 34, Excel 31
A 13-2 second quarter for the T.R. Miller B-team propelled them to a three-point win over Excel Friday night.
The visiting Tigers trailed 13-8 after the first quarter before outscoring the Panthers 13-2 in the second to lead 21-15 at the half.
T.R. Miller increased their lead by one point in the third quarter with a 5-4 advantage to lead 26-19 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, Excel cut the Tiger lead by four as they held a 12-8 advantage, but the Tigers hung on for the win.
Dominique Jackson led T.R. Miller with 14 points and Shawn Tolbert had eight. Aaron Yuhasz chipped in six points and Kieon Smith had three. Abdiel Arauz added two points and Allen Boyd had one.

TRM Lady Tigers 42, Excel 14
No single quarter with more than six points scored in it and one shutout: That is what the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger defense did to the Excel Panthers Friday night as they claimed a 28-point win.
The Lady Tigers held Excel to four points in the first quarter, six in the second, none in the third, and four in the fourth to get the win.
T.R. Miller led 12-4 after the first quarter of play and 23-10 at the half following an 11-6 scoring advantage in the second.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers outscored Excel 19-0 to take a 42-10 lead into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Excel outscored the Lady Tigers 4-0.
Sha Kiser led T.R. Miller with 15 points and Leah Brundidge added 10. Courtney Jones had seven points and Adrian Biggs added six along with Brittany Rush and Diamond Middleton’s two.

Excel 65, TRM varsity 64 OT
After rallying to force overtime Friday night, the T.R. Miller Tiger varsity team fell in overtime by one point, 65-64.
The Tigers trailed Excel 16-12 after the first quarter and 30-24 at the half following a 14-12 Excel advantage in the second.
In the third, T.R. Miller cut the lead by one point with a 21-20 advantage to trail 50-45 heading to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller outscored Excel 17-12 to tie the game at 62-62 at the end of regulation.
In the first overtime, Excel outscored T.R. Miller 3-2 to get the win by one.
Darrion Salter led T.R. Miller with 21 points and Mark Bryant added 15. Caleb Hubbard chipped in nine points and Caleb Dickey added six. Antonio Payne had seven and Kameron Winn and Marc Edge had three points each.

WCHS 45, TRM B-team 38
In their Saturday game at Washington County, the Tiger B-team lost 45-38.
T.R. Miller trailed 15-10 after the first quarter and 25-22 at the half following a 12-10 advantage in the second over the Bulldogs.
In the third quarter, both teams had 12 points as Washington County led 37-34 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, Washington County edged out T.R. Miller 8-4 to get the win by seven.
Tolbert had 15 points and Jackson had 11 for T.R. Miller. Arauz and Smith both had four points each and Caden Lodge and Yuhasz had two each.

TRM Lady Tigers 55, WCHS 13
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers continued their weekend dominance Saturday at Washington County as they claimed a 55-13 win over the Lady Bulldogs.
With the win, T.R. Miller outscored their two opponents Friday and Saturday 97-27 for an average of 48-13.
T.R. Miller led Saturday 19-4 after the first quarter and 41-9 at the half as they outscored Washington County 22-5 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller held a 10-2 advantage to improve their overall lead to 51-11 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller outscored Washington County 4-2 to get the win by 42.
Kiser and Jones paced T.R. Miller with 15 points each and Brundidge added six points along with four from Rush.
Emonea Curry chipped in two points and Taylor Guthrie, Middleton and Shakira Nicholson all had one point each in the win.

WCHS 73, TRM varsity 39
The T.R. Miller varsity Tigers took their fourth straight loss Saturday in Chatom losing to Washington County by 34 points.
T.R. Miller trailed big early as Washington County led 16-2 after the first quarter. In the second, Washington County increased their lead by six with a 19-13 advantage in the second to lead 35-15 at the half.
In the third quarter, Washington County outscored T.R. Miller 12-7 to increase the lead to 47-22.
In the fourth, Washington County outscored the Tigers 26-17.
Salter led T.R. Miller with 16 points and Winn had nine.
Jaquan Dewberry had six points and Hubbard had four. Payne had three and Devonte Jones had one.
