JDCC falls to Southern Union, beats Wallace State-Selma

Saturday, the Warhawks lost by 24 points to Southern Union to drop their record to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
The game was a postponed game from Jan. 10.
“The story of the game was our inability to score against their zone in the second half, which made us unable to set our press,” JDCC head coach Allen Gainer said. “In addition, we left a ton of points at the line.”
The Warhawks led 26-25 after the first half, but fell to a 50-point explosion by Southern Union while only scoring 25 of their own.
Scott led JDCC with 10 points and five defensive rebounds and Presswood had eight.
Ragland added seven points and led with four offensive rebounds, five defensive, nine total rebounds, and two assists. Lazare and Rice also had seven points with Rice having five defensive rebounds and three blocks and steals.
Duncan had five points along with Tyler and Jackson and Fealing having one point each.
JDCC shot 17-for-32 from the free throw line in the loss while Southern Union was 19-for-30.
The Warhawks were 16-for-51 from the field for 31.4 percent while Southern Union was 22-for-53 for 41.5 percent.
Monday night, JDCC traveled to Wallace State-Selma and won 72-64. The win improved the Warhawks to 7-9 overall and 4-3 in region play.
