JDCC Warhawk baseball gets first win

After starting their season off with a 0-3-1 record, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team picked up their first wins of the season Sunday at home as they swept Bevill State.
JDCC started off the week with a 10-0 loss at Northwest Florida State College.
After the shutout, JDCC earned a 3-2 win over Bevill in game one and an 11-4 win in game two.
The Warhawks were set to play at home Tuesday against Pensacola State College. The Warhawks will be back in action Wednesday at East Central Community College.
JDCC will have a six-game road trip before returning back home to Brewton, Tuesday, Feb. 22 in a rematch with Northwest Florida State.

NWFSC 10, JDCC 0
The Warhawks of JDCC were held to two hits and committed two errors in a 10-0 loss at Northwest Florida State College.
JDCC scored no runs in the loss while NWFSC plated three runs in the first, one in the fourth, and six in the sixth inning to get the win by 10.
Dustin Bickmeyer and Robbie Jernigan had the only two hits for the Warhawks in the loss, as they were both 1-for-3.
Tyler Moore took the loss on the mound for the Warhawks as he went two innings and allowed three runs, three hits, walked two and struck out one.

Game one: JDCC 3, Bevill State 2
The Warhawks of Brewton earned their first win of the season as they defeated Bevill State 3-2.
After scoring two runs in the first and one in the second to claim a 3-0 lead, JDCC held on for the one-run win after Bevill plated one run each in the sixth and seventh innings.
Bill Hamrick led the Warhawks at the plate as he went 1-for-3 with one RBI and a double.
Lee Hunter also went 1-for-3 for the Warhawks and had one RBI. Brandon Blackwelder and Jordan Creel were both 1-for-3 and Maurice Leverett was 1-for-2.
Ryne Drummonds earned the win on the mound for the Warhawks. Drummonds went seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, walked one and struck out nine.

Game two: JDCC 11, Bevill State 4
JDCC picked up their second win as they finished off a sweep of Bevill State winning 11-4 in game two.
JDCC took a 4-1 lead after the fourth inning but saw Bevill tie the game in the top of the fifth inning with three runs in the inning.
JDCC would score seven unanswered runs over the fifth and sixth innings scoring four in the fifth and three in the sixth to get the seven-run win.
Nathan Edwards led JDCC at the plate, as he was 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Maurice Leverett was 1-for-4 for JDCC with a solo homerun.
Creel was 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI and Tyler Walker was 1-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
Blackwelder was 2-for-2 and Hamrick was 1-for-2. Bickmeyer was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Jernigan was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Corey Thompson was the winning pitcher for the Warhawks as he went 4 1/3 innings allowed four runs on five hits, walked three and struck out five.
