JDCC Warhawk basketball falls at LBW, now 10-12 overall, 7-6 in conference

In a road conference game Saturday at LBW in Andalusia, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team dropped a 70-60 loss to the Saints.
The Warhawks of Brewton were outscored 35-28 in the first half and by three in the second half, 35-32, to lose by 10 points.
With the loss, the Warhawks saw their overall record fall to 10-12 and to 7-6 in conference play. In conference play, JDCC is one game out of the top four slots that get a bye in the tournament. JDCC trails Alabama Southern, Faulkner, Chattahoochee Valley, and LBW.
In the game Saturday, Brandon Scott grabbed a double-double for the Warhawks as he led with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Of the 13 rebounds, Scott led with 10 defensive.
Three other JDCC players scored in double figures with Larel Jackson, Turmonte Ragland and Gabriel Rice all having 10 points. Sherman Presswood had eight points and Braylon Lazare followed with seven points and Daryl Duncan had two. Chris Peak added one point in the loss for the Warhawks.
Ragland led JDCC with six offensive rebounds, five assists, one block, and five steals.
Lazare and Presswood also had one block each.
JDCC shot 43.4 percent from the field (25-for-53) and was 1-for-7 from the 3-point area for 14.3 percent. The Warhawks were 13-for-22 from the free throw line for 59.1 percent.
JDCC was set to take on Wallace State-Selma at home Monday night and will be back in action Thursday at Bishop State in Mobile at 7 p.m.
The Warhawks will end their season Thursday, Feb. 24, when they take on Chattahoochee Valley in Brewton at 7 p.m. in a conference game.
