Brewton swim team racks up awards in recent meet

The Brewton Local Area Swim Team recently attended the PNY-Polar Bear Invitational Swim Meet in Gulf Shores and according to coach Angel Boyd, “did an amazing job.”
Tigersharks who attended the meet were: Mac and Payton Baxter – son and daughter of Chris and Angel Baxter, Jocelyn Carpenter – daughter of Brant and Carla Carpenter, Elizabeth Glass – daughter of Dewayne and Brooke Glass, Colby Morris – son of Brandee Morris, Caleb Kent – son of Phyllis Kent, Gage Parker – son of Chris and April Parker, Sailor Smith – daughter of Chad and Brandy Smith, Walker Volante – son of Mr. and Mrs. Volante, and Noah Winton – son of Randy and Rachel Winton.

“Elizabeth is a young 9-year-old swimming in the 9-10 age group and she was the second fastest 9-year-old in this event,” Boyd said. “Glass also placed in the top -0 in the 10&U girls 50 Fly. Our Girls 10&U Medley Relay Team of Elizabeth Glass, Sailor Smith, Jocelyn Carpenter and Sara Scott placed second overall and won a ribbon.”

“Colby Morris took individual high point winner and a first place overall trophy,” Boyd said. “The 10&U boys medley relay took first place overall. The team included Noah Winton, Morris, Baxter and Parker. The 10&U boys freestyle relay took second place overall and included Morris, Baxter, Parker and Volante. I am so very proud of how well our team did. We were competing against six very good teams and our Tigersharks were up for the challenge.”
This weekend, the Tigersharks will be taking 15 swimmers to compete in the Southeastern District Championships held at UWF in Pensacola.
“There will be 20 teams from all over the Southeast competing this weekend and we are so excited,” Boyd said,

The district championship team will swimming Feb. 19 and 20 will be: Hayden Atkinson, Nolan Atkinson, Mac Baxter, Payton Baxter, Jocelyn Carpenter, Elizabeth Glass, Cole Jernigan, Gage Parker, Caleb Kent, Geo Little, Sara Scott, Sailor Smith, Walker Volante, Noah Winton, and Colby Morris.
