Local native charged with murder

An East Brewton native has been charged with murder after a deadly arson in Louisiana.

According to reports, Toby W. Beasley, 32, was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated arson after the Friday fire, which killed an 88-year-old double amputee.

Janna L. Firmin, 34, was also charged with principle to first-degree murder and principle to aggravated arson, according to reports.

Two young men escaped the house fire. Reports said the two boys argued with the suspect after he burst into the house, poured an accelerant and then set it on fire before fleeing the scene. The young men were not able to rescue Fefe Shepherd from the house.
