JDCC baseball starts conference play

Four games into conference play, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team’s record is now 11-13-1 overall and 1-3 in conference.
JDCC opened conference play with road games at Alabama Southern and was swept by the Eagles 9-6 and 7-4 to start 0-2.
In home games Tuesday against LBW, JDCC split to go to 1-3. JDCC lost game one 11-2 before taking game two 3-2.

ASCC 9, JDCC 6
JDCC fell behind 8-0 after three innings and committed five errors in game one to lost to Alabama Southern 9-6.
Ryne Drummonds took the loss on the mound for JDCC going six innings allowing nine runs, five earned, six hits, walked four and struck out three.
At the plate for JDCC, Lee Hunter was 1-for-3 and Xavier Cunningham was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Brandon Blackwelder was 3-for-5 with one RBI and Jordan Creel was 1-for-4. Bennie Britton was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Drummonds had one RBI in the loss.
Bill Hamrick went 1-for-3 and Robbie Jernigan had one RBI.

ASCC 7, JDCC 4
In game two, JDCC trailed 7-1 after five innings before adding three in the seventh to lose 7-4.
Hunter was 1-for-2 with a grand slam and four RBIs.
Blackwelder was 1-for-2 and Creel was 4-for-4. Hamrick was 1-for-2 and Bickmeyer was 1-for-3.
Jeremy Barnes took the loss on the mound for JDCC going five innings allowing six runs, one walk and struck out three.

LBW 11, JDCC 2
Against LBW, the Saints turned a 3-2 lead after three innings into a nine-run win to drop JDCC to 0-3 in conference play.
Nathan Edwards was 1-for-3 and Blackwelder was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Creel had one RBI also in the loss. Drummonds was 1-for-4 and Bickmeyer, Jernigan, and Maurice Leverett were both 1-for-3.
Joey Hedden took the loss on the mound going six innings allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits, walked none and struck out two.

JDCC 3, LBW 2
JDCC got back on the winning track in game two as they won 3-2.
JDCC trailed 2-0 after the fifth inning, but scored two in the bottom of the inning and one in the sixth to win by one.
Corey Thompson earned the win on the mound going the complete game allowing two runs, walked five and struck out six.
Hunter was 1-for-3 with a double and Blackwelder was 2-for-2 with a double. Drummonds was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Tyler Walker was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Hamrick was 1-for-3 also in the win.
