D.W. McMillan Hospital will be hosting their third annual Relay for Life 5K Run/Walk for a Cure 2011 Saturday, March 19 at 8 a.m.

“This is our third year doing the race,” Ruthie Cooper said. “We are doing this because it is a fun event and the money raised is really needed to fight against cancer and the participants really seem to enjoy this. Last year was great, we had a little over 100 runners and everyone seemed to have had a good time.”

Early registration for the event is currently going and will end Friday, March 18. The fee for adults is $20 and the fee for kids 8-14 is $10.

Race day registration will be from 7:30-8 a.m. with the adults fee increasing to $22 while the kids will remain at $10.

Usually the route of the race is down Belleville Avenue in Brewton, but Cooper said that would be changed this year because of construction on that street.

Registration forms can be mailed or dropped off at D.W. McMillan Hospital, P.O. Box 908, Brewton, AL, 36427 with attention made to Ruthie Cooper.

For questions, contact Ruthie Cooper at 251-809-8330 or Jenny Gray at 251-867-8085.

The 2011 East Escambia Relay for Life event is planned for April 2 on the campus of the Brewton Area YMCA on Belleville Avenue in Brewton.
