The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball traveled to Montgomery Friday to take on Montgomery Catholic and came away with a 10-3 loss. The loss dropped the Lady Tigers to 3-2 overall.
T.R. Miller trailed 1-0 after the first inning before scoring two runs in the third to take a 2-1 lead.
Catholic then plated two of their own in the third and used a seven-run fourth to hold a 10-2 lead. T.R. Miller’s last run came in the sixth inning as they lost by seven.
The Lady Tigers had six hits, but committed seven errors in the game while Catholic had eight hits and two errors.
Leah Brundidge as 2-for-3 for the Lady Tigers and Leigh Margaret Bostic, Natalie Neal, Taylor Guthrie, and Audrey Hamric were all 1-for-3.
“We trailed 3-0 in top of fourth, but cut it to 3-2,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “The wheels fell of in the bottom of the fourth as wee gave up seven runs on mostly errors. We never really got into a groove. We were not playing well and we were only down one run. Then things fell apart for us in the fourth. In both of our loses this season we’ve had one bad inning where we have given up five runs or more. We can’t do that and expect to win. Luckily it’s early in the season and we have time to get that worked out.”
