WSNMS baseball splits with Excel

The W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team split a doubleheader with Excel Tuesday on the road.
The Eagles won game one 17-2 before falling in game two 6-3. The split makes the Eagles record 6-5.

WSNMS 17, Excel 2
The W.S. Neal Middle School Eagle baseball scored 12 runs in the third inning to claim a 17-2 win over Excel in game one.
The Panthers lead W.S. Neal 2-0 after the first inning, but the Eagles would score 17 unanswered runs to get the win by 15.
W.S. Neal scored three in the second inning, 12 in the third, and two in the fourth to get the win.
Colton Morris earned the win on the mound going five innings allowing two runs, six hits, struck out four, and walked three.
At the plate, Dalton Shell was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Miles Powell was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and Rob Jones was 2-for-3 with four RBIs.
Justin Sessions also added four RBIs, as he was 3-for-3. Lane Chavers was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Morris was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and TyShawn Davis and Alex O’Keane all had one hit in the win for the Eagles.

Excel 6, WSNMS 3
In game two, Excel downed the Eagles 6-3.
Excel scored two runs in the first inning only to see W.S. Neal tie the game with one run each in the second and third innings.
Tied at two, Excel scored four runs in the third inning and held W.S. Neal to one more run in the fourth to get the win by three.
Dakota Graves was 1-for-2 with a triple and Shell was 1-for-2. Jones was 1-for-2 and Nick Laster was 1-for-1.
Justin Sessions pitched two innings for W.S. Neal and took the loss on the mound.
