JDCC baseball gets swept at Bishop

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team was swept at Bishop State Tuesday to fall to 13-15-1 overall and to 3-5 in conference play.
JDCC lost 11-6 in game one and 5-4 in game two.
In game one, JDCC and Bishop were tied 3-3 until Bishop scored seven runs in the sixth inning to take a 10-3 lead.
After Bishop added to their lead with one run in the seventh, JDCC cut the lead to 11-6 with three runs in the eighth, but lost by five.
Lee Hunter was 2-for-4 and Nathan Edwards was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Xavier Cunningham was 1-for-1 and Brandon Blackwelder was 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Bennie Britton was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Ryne Drummonds was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double. Bill Hamrick was 1-for-5 for JDCC with one RBI.
Corey Thompson took the loss on the mound for JDCC pitching five innings allowing four hits, four runs, three runs, three walks, and struck out nine.
In game two, JDCC had a 4-2 lead after the top of the fifth inning before falling to three unanswered runs to lose by one, 5-4.
Hunter was 1-for-3 with a double and Tyler Walker was 2-for-3 with a double. Britton had one RBI and Walker had one RBI. Hamrick was 1-for-3.
Edwards took the loss going 2/3 of an inning allowing one hit, two earned runs, walked and struck out one.
In other games for JDCC, four games into conference play, the baseball team saw their record at 11-13-1 overall and 1-3 in conference.
JDCC opened conference play with road games at Alabama Southern and was swept by the Eagles 9-6 and 7-4 to start 0-2.
In home games Tuesday against LBW, JDCC split to go to 1-3. JDCC lost game one 11-2 before taking game two 3-2.

ASCC 9, JDCC 6
JDCC fell behind 8-0 after three innings and committed five errors in game one to lost to Alabama Southern 9-6.
Ryne Drummonds took the loss on the mound for JDCC going six innings allowing nine runs, five earned, six hits, walked four and struck out three.
At the plate for JDCC, Lee Hunter was 1-for-3 and Xavier Cunningham was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Brandon Blackwelder was 3-for-5 with one RBI and Jordan Creel was 1-for-4. Bennie Britton was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Drummonds had one RBI in the loss.
Bill Hamrick went 1-for-3 and Robbie Jernigan had one RBI.

ASCC 7, JDCC 4
In game two, JDCC trailed 7-1 after five innings before adding three in the seventh to lose 7-4.
Hunter was 1-for-2 with a grand slam and four RBIs.
Blackwelder was 1-for-2 and Creel was 4-for-4. Hamrick was 1-for-2 and Bickmeyer was 1-for-3.
Jeremy Barnes took the loss on the mound for JDCC going five innings allowing six runs, one walk and struck out three.

LBW 11, JDCC 2
Against LBW, the Saints turned a 3-2 lead after three innings into a nine-run win to drop JDCC to 0-3 in conference play.
Nathan Edwards was 1-for-3 and Blackwelder was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Creel had one RBI also in the loss. Drummonds was 1-for-4 and Bickmeyer, Jernigan, and Maurice Leverett were both 1-for-3.
Joey Hedden took the loss on the mound going six innings allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits, walked none and struck out two.

JDCC 3, LBW 2
JDCC got back on the winning track in game two as they won 3-2.
JDCC trailed 2-0 after the fifth inning, but scored two in the bottom of the inning and one in the sixth to win by one.
Corey Thompson earned the win on the mound going the complete game allowing two runs, walked five and struck out six.
Hunter was 1-for-3 with a double and Blackwelder was 2-for-2 with a double. Drummonds was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Tyler Walker was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Hamrick was 1-for-3 also in the win.
In a pair of Saturday games, the Warhawks defeated Wallace State-Selma to even their overall record to 13-13-1 and conference record to 3-3.
JDCC won game one 13-6 and game two 12-2.
In game one, JDCC led 10-1 after the fifth inning and 10-3 after the seventh. The Warhawks scored three runs in the eighth and held on after Selma scored two in the ninth.
Lee Hunter was 2-for-2 with a homerun and Nathan Edwards was 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Bennie Britton was 3-for-4 with one RBI and Matthew Watkins was 1-for-1.
Dustin Bickmeyer was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Robbie Jernigan was 2-for-4 with a homerun.
Jeremy Barnes earned the win going seven innings allowing four runs, five hits, walked one and struck out five.
In game two, JDCC led 4-2 after the third inning before scoring four runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to get the win by 10.
Ryne Drummonds earned the win going five innings allowing two runs, five hits, walked one and struck out eight.
Hunter had two doubles going 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Xavier Cunningham was 1-for-1 and Blackwelder was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Britton was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Hamrick was 1-for-4 with a double. Jernigan was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Maurice Leverett was 1-for-2.
