TRM softball cruises to area sweep at Washington County

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team outscored area opponent Washington County 34-5 in a doubleheader Thursday in Chatom to improve their record to 5-3 overall and to 2-1 in area play.
T.R. Miller won game one 17-3 and took game two 17-2.
Jessica Allan led the Lady Tigers at the plate as she went 6-for-6 with six RBIs in the doubleheader sweep for T.R. Miller.
Natalie Neal also helped in the wins over Washington County at the plate as she drove in five runs on three hits. Of Neal’s three hits, one was a triple.
Also at the plate for the Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller, Tykesia McFugerson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Audrey Hamric, Kristin Booker and Leigh Margaret Bostic added two hits in the opener.
On the mound for T.R. Miller in game one, Taylor Guthrie improved her pitching record to 2-1 as she struck out five in five innings. Guthrie allowed four hits in the 14-run win.
In game two, Miranda Smith threw a three-hitter in the five-inning win in game two.
Hamric, Booker and Bostic all had two hits for the Lady Tigers in the 15-run game two win.
T.R. Miller will play host to J.U. Blacksher of Uriah Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Brewton YMCA Sports Park.
The game is a scheduled doubleheader with game two set for 5:30 p.m.
