Brewton Police have arrested two Brewton men who are facing a variety of drug and firearms charges after officers executed an early morning search warrant.
Their arrest follows an earlier drug bust on Tuesday night.
Laketra Stevens, 38, was arrested when officers with the Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at a 100 Park St., Lot 5, address at 4:30 a.m. Friday morning, Capt. Bryan Davis, chief of the narcotics unit, said.
“Officers with our Division were assisted by members of the Brewton Police Department Special Response Team, the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force and the East Brewton Police Department,” Davis said. “Once inside the residence, officers found evidence of illegal drug distribution and a stolen handgun.”
Davis said Laketra Stevens was charged with second degree receiving stolen property, a certain person forbidden to possess a firearm, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana.
Davis said a second suspect is also under arrest after an eight-hour search resulted in  the suspect turning himself into police.
“Larico Stevens was the main target of our investigation but he was not at the residence when we executed the search warrant,” Davis said. “He turned himself in to our officers at about 1 p.m. Friday. He was taken into custody without incident.”
Lorico Stevens is charged with criminal conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance – cocaine.
Both suspects were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center Friday where they were awaiting a bond hearing. No details on bond were available as of press time
