WSNMS baseball takes third in tournament Saturday

In their own middle school baseball tournament Saturday in East Brewton, the W.S. Neal Eagles finished third with a 1-2 record.
The Eagles lost to Excel 11-3 in game one and lost to Clarke County 6-0 in their second game. In their third and final game, the Eagles defeated Flomaton 5-2 to get their lone win.
Clarke County won the tournament going 3-0 and was followed by Excel and 2-1 and Flomaton at 0-3.
With the 1-2 tournament record, W.S. Neal’s overall record is now 7-7.
W.S. Neal was held to only four hits the whole tournament with two coming against Excel and two against Flomaton. Against, Clarke County, the Eagles had no hits and had a perfect game thrown against them.

Excel 11, WSNMS 3
Excel scored 10 runs in the third inning to turn a 2-1 deficit into an 11-2 lead and defeat W.S. Neal in game one 11-3.
In the 10-run third inning for the Panthers, W.S. Neal used three pitchers and surrendered seven hits and made three errors.
Excel led 1-0 after the top of the first while the Eagles scored two runs in the bottom to claim a 2-1 lead. Neither team scored in the second inning. After Excel’s 10-run third inning, W.S. Neal scored their final run in the third inning.
Nick Laster took the loss on the mound for the Eagles going two innings. Alex O’Keane went 2/3 of an inning and Dalton Shell went the final 1 1/3.
Miles Powell was 2-for-2 for W.S. Neal with a double and two RBIs. Rob Jones had the other RBI for W.S. Neal.

Clarke County 6, W.S. Neal 0
In their second game, W.S. Neal had a perfect game thrown against them by Clarke County as the Bulldogs won 6-0.
Of the 15 Eagle batters in the five inning game, 10 struck out and none reached base.
Clarke County scored one run each in the first and second innings before plating four runs in the fourth.
Lane Chavers took the loss on the mound for W.S. Neal going 3 2/3 innings. Miles Powell went the final 1 1/3 innings for the Eagles.

WSNMS 5, Flomaton 2
W.S. Neal picked up their lone win in the tournament in their final game beating Flomaton 5-2.
W.S. Neal scored two runs in the second only to see Flomaton tie the game in the top of third with two runs of their own.
W.S. Neal took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of third and added one in the fourth to get the win by three after the game was called due to the time limit.
Colton Morris earned the win on the mound going four innings allowing one hit, two runs, none earned, walked five, struck out two, and hit two.
Laster was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and O’Keane was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
