On “Pink” Friday for the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team, the Lady Tigers swept a home tri-match with Thomasville and Daphne to improve their overall record to 8-3.
The Lady Tigers won their first game of the day over Thomasville 12-2 in six innings and won the nightcap game against 6A Daphne 5-4.
T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said first and foremost, he would like to thank all of the fans who supported his team and showed up to the games wearing pink. “All of the proceeds collected tonight from our donation bucket will go to the T.R. Miller Relay for Life team,” White said. “Relay for Life is a great organization and we are glad that we can do a little something to be a part of it.”
As for the games, White said he thought they played two very solid games tonight. “Defensively we were pretty solid,” White said. “We had a couple miscues late that put us in a bad situation but we were able to make some plays when we had to, to get us out of a jam. Our pitcher (Miranda Smith) had two good games also. She threw a two-hitter in game one and allowed only four hits in game two. When you get that, you always have a chance to win.”
White said his team had several big hits at big times.
“The bottom half of our order got on base a lot tonight and that allowed the top of the order to move them around and knock them in,” White said. “This was two great wins for our program and hopefully they will give us some confidence going into the second half of the season.”
