WSN baseball gets area win over Jackson

The W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team clinched a spot in the class 4A state playoffs Friday in Jackson as they won the first game on Friday with the Aggies 13-3.
Thursday in East Brewton, the Eagles won 2-1 to take the first game of the three game area series and took game two by 10 in Jackson to claim the two area games over the Aggies.
In the third game, W.S. Neal lost 9-3 but with the two earlier wins over Jackson, game three did not matter in the area standings.
With the wins, W.S. Neal improved their overall record to 13-4 and to 6-0 in area play.
With an area win over Thomasville Thursday on the road and Friday at home, the Eagles will be area champions.

Game one: WSN 2, Jackson 1
W.S. Neal scored two runs in the second inning and held Jackson to one in the fifth to take the first game over the Aggies 2-1.
Keith Bradley earned the win on the mound for the Eagles pitching seven innings, striking out eight, walking none, surrendering four hits and one earned run.
Hunter Mullins was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Damion Williams was 1-for-2. Reid Johnson was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Dylan Godwin was 2-for-3. Christian Purvis was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Bradley had one RBI.

Game two: WSN 13, Jackson 3
Needing a win in game one Friday to take the series and the area win, the Eagles earned a 10-run win over the Aggies 13-3.
W.S. Neal scored seven runs in the fourth inning to help in the win.
Brian Settle earned the win going four innings allowing four hits, one earned run, struck out two, and walked four.
Godwin went one inning allowing one hit and no runs.
Mullins was 1-for-3 with one RBI and a double. Johnson was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and Settle was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Bradley was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Williams was 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Godwin was 2-for-4 and Bradley Brown was 1-for-2 with three RBIs.

Game three: Jackson 9, WSN 3
In game three, Jackson scored seven runs in the second inning while holding W.S. Neal to two in the first and one in the second.
Godwin took the loss going three innings allowing seven hits, five earned runs, struck out two and walked four.
Gary McGraw went three innings allowing one hit, two walks, and one earned run.
Mullins was 1-for-4 and Johnson was 3-for-4 with one RBI. Settle was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Myers was 1-for-1. Cam Blackman was 2-for-2 with one RBI.
