Brewton City Council members on Tuesday urged residents to take part in the Earth Day cleanup set for Saturday.
“There will be Dumpsters at College Drive in Alco, Burnt Corn Creek Park, the corner of Sowell Road and Liles Boulevard and the old Wal-Mart parking lot,” said Councilman Joe Watson, a member of the city council’s Earth Day Committee. “You can take car batteries and oil to the auto parts stores.”
Tires can also be put in the Dumpsters.
The Jay Road Landfill will be open for residents to take old appliances as well as television and computer components.
Appliances will be free, but dumping television and computer components will cost $7 per item.
In addition, Watson said, Georgia-Pacific will sponsor a Shred-It paper recycling truck from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Habitat ReStore parking lot.
The City of East Brewton will have their trash truck available for East Brewton residents; call 867-7998 for pickup.
