Neal, Miller qualify for state track meets

T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal both qualified for their state track meets after a sectional meet held Monday and Tuesday in Montgomery.
The Miller girls were first in the 3A sectional, and the boys placed second.
Neal boys placed eighth in 4A sectionals, and the girls were seventh.
Four individual team members qualified for events, W.S. Neal coach Rebecca Massie said.
Neal qualifiers include: Gary Likely, triple jump; Justin Tompkins, discus; Jasmine Crook, 200 meters and shotput; Josiah Nettles in the 110-meter hurdles and the 200 meters.
Likely was first in the Eagles section in the triple jump Monday.
Tompkins was fourth in the discus, throwing 127’9”.
Crook was third in the shotput, throwing 27’2”. She was fifth in the 200 with a time of 28.62.
Nettles was fourth in the 110 hurdles, running 16.54. Nettles was fifth in the 200, running 23.56.
The top six from each event go on to state.
