Six Brewton Tigershark swimmers recently attended a swim meet in Auburn the weekend of May 21-22 and continued to shine this Long Course Season.
Mac and Payton Baxter, son and daughter of Chris and Angel Baxter, Colby Morris, son of Brandee Morris, Jocelyn Carpenter, daughter of Brant and Carla Carpenter, Sara Scott, daughter of Doug and Sheila Scott, and Sailor Smith, daughter of Chad and Brandy Smith, attended the Orange and Blue Classic this past weekend in Auburn.
Swim team head coach Angel Boyd reported that Mac Baxter, 8, was on fire this weekend in Auburn winning every event he swam in the 8U events. Baxter took home the high point trophy in the 8U boys division, edging ever closer to making his qualifying cuts in the 10U division for the Southeastern championship in Knoxville.
Also, in the 10U division, Colby Morris placed in the top 5 in every race he swam and also brought home a trophy, winning 4th place overall in the race for highpoint in 10U boys.
“Colby has already established himself as an amazing swimmer in the Southeastern Zone,” Boyd said. “By achieving his cuts in 100 free, 200 free, 100 Back, 100 Fly, 50 Back and 50 free, and he now has broken the 50 Breast cut as well.”
Payton Baxter had a great meet and swam well against some of the best 11-12 swimmers in the southeast, Boyd said.
“She swam hard and improved some of her times also edging closer to SE Cuts,” Boyd said. “Payton finished in the top 25 in 11-12 girls overall.”
Jocelyn Carpenter, Sailor Smith and Sara Scott also swam hard this weekend in Auburn and improved their times in the 8U division.
“These girls have worked extremely hard and I am very proud of their top-16 performance this past weekend,” Boyd said. “Sara trophied placing 8th overall and Jocelyn trophied placing 9th overall. Sailor who had an amazing Saturday, managed to pull out 11th place overall. Sailor was unable to swim Sunday, so she raced hard on Saturday and earned enough points to still bring home a trophy from Auburn.”
The team will be swimming again in Gulf Breeze the weekend of June 4-5.
