EB 11-12s finish third

The East Brewton 11-12 Cal Ripken all stars went 2-2 in their district tournament in East Brewton over the weekend.
The all stars started the tournament Saturday with a 10-7 loss to eventual champion Brewton, but responded with a big win over Evergreen Saturday night 25-9.
Facing Opp Sunday, East Brewton rallied to come away with a 4-3 win before losing to South Alabama in the loser’s bracket finals 9-6.
With the third place finish, East Brewton qualified for the state tournament next week in Brewton.

Saturday: EB 25, Evergreen 9
Despite giving up three homeruns to the all stars of Evergreen, East Brewton rolled to a 16-run win.
East Brewton scored nine runs in the first inning to lead 9-2 and then took a 10-2 lead after two innings. In the third inning, Evergreen outscored East Brewton 3-2 to cut East Brewton’s lead to 12-5. After being held to no run in the top of the fourth, Evergreen scored three runs to cut the lead to 12-8.
From that point, East Brewton outscored Evergreen 13-1 scoring six runs in the fifth and seventh in the sixth to get the big win.
Matt Hutchins pitched in the win for East Brewton allowing nine earned runs, 13 hits, walked one and struck out five.
Connor Huskey had three hits and three RBIs for East Brewton and Derrick Barton had one hit. Jo Jo Booker had four hits including a double and three RBIs.
TyShawn Davis had two hits and two RBIs while Eddie Taylor was 1-for-1.
Brandon Moye had three hits and two RBIs and Hutchins had one hit and two RBIs.
P.J. Lovelace had two hits and Kristian Taylor had one hit and one RBI.
Marcus Simmons had one hit and one RBI in the win.

Sunday: EB 4, Opp 3
Trailing 2-0 after four innings, East Brewton rallied with four runs in the fifth inning to take a 4-3 win from Opp and remain alive Sunday.
Opp scored one run each in the first, fourth, and fifth innings while East Brewton’s runs came in the top of the fourth.
Huskey pitched in the win for East Brewton allowing six hits and struck out two.
At the plate, Barton was 1-for-3 and Booker was 1-for-2 with a triple. Davis was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Lovelace was 1-for-3. Bosarge was 1-for-1 in the win.

Monday: South Alabama 9, EB 6
Needing a win to face Brewton for the district championship Monday, East Brewton made 10 errors in a loss to South Alabama.
South Alabama led 3-0 after the first inning only to see East Brewton cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the second.
South Alabama would take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third and a 7-2 lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
After East Brewton scored three runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-5, South Alabama scored two in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-5 lead. East Brewton would add one in the top of the sixth, but lose by three and see their district tournament run end.
Booker pitched in the loss for East Brewton.
At the plate for East Brewton, Barton was 1-for-3 along with Moye and Kristian Taylor.
Lovelace was 1-for-2 in the loss. Barton had one RBI in the loss for the all stars of East Brewton.
