EB 12U all stars win final game at state tournament Monday

In their final game of the 2011 Cal Ripken State baseball tournament Monday in Brewton, the East Brewton 12U picked up their lone win as they downed South Alabama 6-3.The win Monday finished the 2011 all star season for the team with a 1-4 record in the state tournament.
Earlier in the week, East Brewton lost to Attalla 15-6 and Linden 5-3 on Saturday. Sunday, East Brewton lost to Demopolis 11-0 and 13-3 to Brewton.
In the lone win Monday, with the game tied 2-2 after the third inning, East Brewton plated two runs in the fourth and sixth innings while holding South Alabama to one in the fourth to get the win.
Earlier in the game, both teams scored one run each in the first inning while South Alabama added one in the second to take an early 2-1 lead.
East Brewton would later tie the game at 2-2 with one run in the top of the third and outscore South Alabama 4-1 the rest of the game to get the win.
Connor Huskey earned the win on the mound for East Brewton as he went the complete game six innings allowing four hits, three runs, none earned, walked one and struck out five.
At the plate, Derrick Barton was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Jo Jo Booker was 1-for-3.
P.J. Lovelace was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Brandon Moye was 1-for-3.
Eddie Taylor was 1-for-2 and Huskey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Both teams made four errors each while East Brewton left six runners on base and South Alabama left four.

Attalla 15, East Brewton 6
With the game time 6-6 after four innings Saturday in East Brewton’s first game, Attalla scored nine runs in the top of the fifth to take down East Brewton 15-6.
Attalla scored one run in the first and second innings only to see East Brewton tie the game at 2-2 with two runs in the bottom of the second.
After Attalla scored one in the third, East Brewton took a 4-3 lead with two runs of their won.
Attalla reclaimed the lead with three in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead only to see East Brewton tie the game at six with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
At the plate for East Brewton, P.J. Lovelace was 2-for-2 and TyShawn Davis was 1-for-3 along with Connor Huskey and Derrick Barton.
Matt Hutchins was 1-for-2.
On the mound, Jo Jo Booker pitched five innings allowing 10 runs including three homeruns, struck out three and walked one.
Davis pitched one inning allowing five runs and two walks and Weston Riddle pitched and struck out two.

Linden 5, EB 3
In game two Saturday, East Brewton dropped to 0-2 in pool play losing to Linden 5-3.
Linden scored three runs in the first, one in the second and one in the third to take an early 5-0 lead.
East Brewton would score three in the bottom of the fifth, but lose by two.
Huskey and Riddle pitched in the loss and combined four six strikeouts, five runs and three walks.
At the plate, Booker and Kristian Taylor were both 1-for-3.

Demopolis 11, EB 0
Sunday, East Brewton remained winless as Demopolis cruised to an 11-0 win in four innings.
Demopolis scored four runs in the first, three in the second, and four in the third while holding East Brewton scoreless to get the win.
Booker and Huskey pitched in the loss.
Barton, Booker and Lovelace were all 1-for-2 at the plate.

Brewton 13, EB 3
In game two Sunday, East Brewton matched up with local Brewton and Brewton came away with a 13-3 win.
East Brewton led early after scoring one run in the first inning, but saw Brewton scored three in the second and third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 9-1 lead.
East Brewton would cut the lead to 9-3 in the bottom of the inning, but Brewton added four in the top of the sixth and held East Brewton scoreless in the bottom of the inning to get the win by 10.
At the plate, Barton was 2-for-3 and Booker and Hutchins were both 1-for-3.
Davis was 1-for-1.
Riddle pitched in the loss allowing 13 runs including four Brewton homeruns, walked and struck out two.
