BBR 14s win district

The 14-year-old Brewton Babe Ruth team recently won their district games in Atmore to claim the district title and advance to the state tournament in Wetumpka.
Brewton won the best two-of-three series with Atmore winning game one 14-6 and game two 8-7.

Game 1: Brewton 14, Atmore 6
In game one against Atmore, Brewton won 14-6.
Tyler Joyner got the start and the win pitching six innings and Rob Jones came in the sixth inning as relief to finish game.
Atmore led 3-1 after the first inning before Brewton scored six runs to take a 7-3 lead.
After a scoreless third and fourth inning, Atmore cut the lead to 7-6 in the bottom of the fourth with three runs of their own. Neither team would score in the fifth and sixth innings, while Brewton added seven in the top of the seventh and hold Atmore scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to get the win by eight.
At the plate for Brewton, Miles Powell was 2-for-5 along with Tyler Joyner.
Chris Jones was 1-for-5 with one RBI and Keaton Parker was 1-for-5 with one RBI.
Rob Jones was 2-for-5 with one RBI and Todd Mayo had two RBIs.
Hunter Harp was 1-for-2 in the win.

Game 2: Brewton 8, Atmore 7
In game two, Brewton edged out Atmore for an 8-7 win to claim the title.
Miles Powell earned the win for Brewton on the mound pitching the complete game.
Atmore struck first with five runs in the first inning, but Brewton cut the lead to 5-3 heading to the second inning.
The first inning runs would be Brewton’s final runs until the seventh inning as Atmore scored one run in the second and one in the sixth to take a 7-3 lead.
Brewton caught fire in the bottom of the seventh as Tyler Reid came up to bat with two outs and two strikes to put Brewton on the board and was followed by Dylan Etheridge’s hit with two outs and two strikes to score two runs to tie and win the game.
Powell was 1-for-4 in the win and Parker was 1-for-4.
Chris Jones was 2-for-4 and one RBI and Joyner was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Rob Jones was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Reid was 1-for-4 with one RBI. Etheridge was 1-for-4 with a double and the game winning two RBIs.
