A joint effort of the Brewton and Atmore Police departments has put a suspected drug dealer and two suspects charged with drug crimes behind bars.
Damien Mosley, 35, of Atmore was arrested Thursday evening and now faces a variety of drug charges in connection with an investigation conducted by the two departments.
Sgt. Bryan Davis, commander of the Brewton Police Department’s narcotics division, said the arrest came after an officer made a drug buy from the suspect.
“An undercover officer made contact with Mosley and ordered several grams of methamphetamines,” Davis said. “The transaction was arranged at a closed business in Atmore.”
Davis said Mosley arrived at the location as arranged and attempted to sell the drugs to the officer.
“Mosley was placed under arrest and taken into custody,” Davis said. “Once in custody, Mosley was found to have more methamphetamines and marijuana in his vehicle. He now faces several drug charges. This arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by both departments into illegal distribution of methamphetamines in the Brewton and Atmore areas.”
Mosley has been charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, first-degree possession of marijuana, attempt to commit a controlled substance crime and criminal conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime.
Mosley was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center. He was released on a $100,000 bond.
In unrelated cases a Brewton man and an East Brewton man was arrested Tuesday night by Brewton Police officers.
Marcus Juan Reid, 25, of Brewton, was arrested when officers with Brewton Police’s narcotics division came in contact with the suspect.
Davis said agents were forced into a foot chase with Reid when attempting to make the arrest.
“Reid was approached by our agents and officers in the May Street area around 7 p.m. Tuesday,” Davis said. “Reid began running on foot and officers began a chase.”
Davis said officers were lead to the area of Lambert Street and Sowell road in the chase before they were able to capture Reid.
Reid was found to be in possession of several pieces of crack/cocaine, Davis said. He has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance-crack/cocaine and attempting to elude.
He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where he was booked on the charges. He is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
An East Brewton man was also arrested on the night of July 17 and faces drug charges as well.
Joshua David Wolfgram, 30, of East Brewton, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, first-degree, Davis said.
“Our agents made a traffic stop around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night on Mildred Street in downtown Brewton,” Davis said. “The white Ford Crown Victoria was occupied by Wolfgram at the time of the stop.”
Davis said agents performed a search and Wolfgram was found to be in possession of marijuana.
Wolfgram was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where he was booked on the charges against him.
He has been released on a $5,000 bond.
