A former aide for ex-Chief Justice Roy Moore announced Thursday that he will challenge U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner next year.

“I believe that reckless spending in Washington has put our nation on the brink of financial ruin, and that we must change the way Washington is being run,” Dean Young said in a statement.”

Young is a Baldwin County businessman who worked as an aide and spokesperson for Moore. He ran for lieutenant governor in 2010 but dropped out before he made it to the ballot.

Young said he would lower business taxes and work for a fair tax system to help create jobs.
