A group of dedicated women focused on fundraising for charitable causes are ready to kick off a second year of helping those in need.
The Pink Pirates Painters will kick off their fall fund-raising activities by holding a Painting Party at the L House (formerly Book and Bean) on the Boardwalk in Brewton Monday, August 29 at 7 p.m.
The theme for this party will be “Paint That Tune” with participants illustrating lyrics from their favorite song on canvas.
All participants will use a 16”x20” stretched canvas and acrylic paints to execute their designs with no previous experience necessary.
All materials for painting the designs will be provided by the Pink Pirates, who will also assist painters with their paintings.
The Pink Pirates Painters were formed in 2010 to provide an entertaining way to raise money for the Jefferson Davis Relay for Life Team and present the parties with help from the JDCC Honors Program and Phi Theta Kappa. They have sponsored more than 20 parties in the past year to support Relay for Life.
In addition, they have held several other events to raise funds for other organizations, including the Humane Society of Escambia County and the Yancey Jernigan
Foundation.
The group is available for painting parties for other organizations and private parties.
Founding members of The Pink Pirates Painting Parties are Sharon Peacock, Megan Lisenby Brantley, Halie Ellis and Lyn Gill.
