The W.S. Neal Lady Eagle volleyball team and head coach Jeff Haney picked up their first win of the season Thursday at Escambia County in Atmore.
The Lady Eagles won 2-0 winning game one 25-11 and game two 25-17 to improve to 1-1 this season.
W.S. Neal will be back in action Tuesday at home against T.R. Miller. Game times will begin at 4 p.m. with the middle schools playing followed by JV at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.
In game one, Gracee Dixon had three service points followed by Jodi Busby with five, Paige Grantham with four, Ashlyn Lambeth with three, Stephanie Lambert with one, Lauren Boatwright with three and Kaitlin Hadaway with six.
In game two, Dixon had eight, Grantham had six, Lambeth had two, Kena Ellison and one, Kendal Clayton had two, Boatwright had three, Busby had two and Hadaway had one.
“I was really proud of the girls getting their first victory of the season,” Haney said. “We did some things really well, but also struggled in some areas. Our ball control was not where it needed to be, but we did a good job of finding open spots to put the ball. This win will be something that pushes us hard into a big game next week with T.R. Miller. We are looking forward to that.”
