A minor train derailment in downtown Brewton Tuesday afternoon stopped train traffic but did not cause any injuries.

CSX officials said it appeared that something on the track had caused one of the cars to derail. The cars were empty.

A Brewton police officer helped direct traffic through the U.S. 31 and Alabama 41 intersection, but for the most part traffic was not disturbed by the incident. CSX officials were waiting on Tuesday evening for equipment to help remove the rail car.
