Everything old is new again and the owners at Rose Cottage Boutique are busy bringing that idea to life.
The new shop opened in their Douglas Avenue location Aug. 26 with every nook and cranny of the building filled with treasures waiting to be discovered.
Co-owner Shirley Turner said the shop is among a half-dozen other just about anything you could imagine.”
Although some items in the shop are antique, not everything is old, Turner said.
“Basically, we are an upscale, resell shop,” Turner said. “We wanted to be a shop that had something for everyone and I think we’ve succeeded.”
The shop is co-owned by seven women who have been working the resell idea for a period of time, Turner said.
“We were all part of other shops for a while,” Turner said. “We decided we wanted to get together and expand our businesses and that’s what we’ve done with this shop.”
Co-owners at Rose Cottage Boutique include Turner, Joyce Moberg, Teresa Knowles, Liz Higdon, Jean Savage, Darlene Morgan, Nell Ellis and Sharon Gaddy.
The Rose Cottage Boutique isn’t a new idea in Brewton, Turner said, but extends opportunities for shoppers that have come to recognize Brewton as a destination for this kind of shopping.
“There are six other shops like this in and around Brewton,” Turner said. “People come from all over to shop here because of what is being offered. Brewton has really built a name for itself in this kind of business and it’s attracting people from all over.”
Turner said shoppers can find a multitude of items available in the shop with owners adding new items almost daily.
“We have so much to offer that you can find just about anything in the shop,” Turner said. “If we don’t have what someone is looking for, we can try and find it for them. We have a wish list and each one of our shop owners will search to try and fill those wishes.”
The shop is located at 906 Douglas Ave., across the street from Brewton Elementary School. Shop hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A grand opening celebration complete with prizes, refreshments and discounts, is set for Sept. 29-Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
