A suspect is being sought in connection with an armed robbery that left an Appleton man hospitalized.

Escambia County Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said the incident occurred on Mason Mill Pond Road during the early evening hours of Wednesday.

“The victim had returned to his home and had gotten out of his vehicle to go inside,” Lambert said. “As he turned a corner someone hit him in the head and he was disabled for a period of time.”

Lambert said the victim was taken to D.W. McMillan Hospital where he was admitted to receive treatment for his injuries.

“We know that the victim had some cash in his wallet,” Lambert said. “The wallet was taken during the attack.”

Although no arrest has been made in the case, Lambert said the Department is following up on some leads they have received in connection with the attack.

“We are following those leads and hope to make an arrest in this case soon,” Lambert said.

Anyone with information concerning the incident on Mason Mill Pond Road Wednesday evening is asked to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department at 867-0304.
