Habitat build begins Friday in East Brewton

Habitat for Humanity of Escambia County volunteers will raise the walls of the groups latest project Friday morning at 8 a.m.
The build site is on Mayo Street in East Brewton and will be the location of a “home for the holidays” for the Thompson family.
Building will begin as the group raises the walls of the home Friday morning and will continue throughout the weekend.
Starting time for Saturday will be 8 a.m. with a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
The project was delayed by a week after a mechanical problem at the maufacturing facility caused problems. The company, based in Dothan, is used by the group to purchase prefabricated materials for building projects.
Alecia Glaize, Habitat director, said the delay will increase the need for volunteers working over the coming weeks to complete the project before Christmas holidays.
The latest project will mark the 18th home constructed by HFH organizers and volunteers and is planned for completion in time for the family to occupy before Christmas, organizers said.
To pre-register as a volunteer, contact the HFH office at 867-0095 or at their offices inside the Habitat Restore on Douglas Avenue. A complete schedule of work times is available at the Habitat Website at www.escambiahfh.org.
Volunteers may also register on-site on scheduled work days in East Brewton.
