BMS basketball teams pick up wins

Both basketball teams from Brewton Middle School recently picked up two wins this week to improve their records.
The Lady Tigers improved to 4-2 as they defeated McCall Tuesday on the road 17-15 and Lyeffion Thursday at home 33-10.
The Tigers improved to 3-3 as they defeated McCall 34-15 and Lyeffion 39-25.
Both teams will be back in action Tuesday, Nov. 29 at W.S. Neal Middle School in East Brewton.
Game time is set for 4 p.m. with the girls playing first.

BMS girls 17, McCall 15
With the game tied 11-11 after the third quarter, Brewton’s Lady Tigers outscored McCall 6-4 in the fourth quarter to get the win by two, 17-15.
McCall led Brewton 5-3 after the first quarter but Brewton outscored the Lady Wolves 6-0 in the second quarter to claim a 9-5 lead.
McCall rallied in the third quarter with a 6-2 advantage to tie the game at 11-11 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, Brewton outscored McCall 6-4 for the win. Emonea Curry led with seven points followed by five points from Mekia Williams and two points each from Destiny Washington and Anilah Brazille. Serena Smith added one point.

BMS boys 34, McCall 15
In boys action Tuesday at McCall, the Tiger boys won 34-14.
Brewton led 18-3 after the first quarter and 28-6 at the half. Brewton edged out McCall 6-4 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 34-10 before being outscored 5-0 in the fourth.
Markail Mitchell led with eight points while Devonte Peterson, Ahmad Taylor, Tamerick Jenkins, Jo Jo Booker, and Traderick Jenkins all had four points. Carlos Thomas, Tyler Baxter and Austin Holmes all had two points each.

BMS girls 33, Lyeffion 10
In girls action Thursday, the Lady Tigers defeated Lyeffion 33-10.
Brewton jumped out to an early 14-0 lead before holding a 6-4 advantage in the second quarter to hold a 20-4 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Brewton outscored Lyeffion 5-4 to extend their lead to 25-8.
In the fourth, Brewton held an 8-2 advantage to get the win by 23 points, 33-10.
Tempest Thompson led Brewton with 14 points and Curry added 10. Williams chipped in five points and Anilah Brazille had four.

BMS boys 39, Lyeffion 25
In boys action Thursday night, Brewton defeated Lyeffion by 14 points, 39-25.
Brewton trailed 6-4 after the first quarter before outscoring Lyeffion 10-4 in the second to hold a 14-10 lead at the half.
In the third, Brewton edged out Lyeffion 11-4 to increase their lead to 25-14 and outscored Lyeffion 14-11 in the fourth to get the win.
Devonte Peterson led with 12 points and Mitchell had 10. Taylor chipped in seven points while Jenkins and Booker added five in the win.
